Its christmas time again and we are preparing for another party in the unit. There are two more days to prepare, but I don't think that's enough. Ironically, all staff were confused as to the date. Some thought, like myself that it's going to be on the 17th but I was really shocked to know that it's going to be on the 16th. How did it happen?!?! I was the one who first informed everyone that its either 17 or 18, but now they just told me it's 16. I never heard of any meeting or whatever.
Well, anyway, till now we only have Php 3,500.00 in our fund. Hahahaha..How can we go about that??? There's two more days. My fingers are crossed..A "MIRACLE" can happen..hehehe..This party planning is getting funnier everyday.
Anyway, Kara and I were just talking this afternoon. I thought I was the only one wondering why our agency are not contacting us. It's been like a month already. I'll just call them after christmas if our contract is still good or else I'll apply in another agency.
Another news for me today while sending invitations for our christmas charity. Kuya Mike and Ryan went to Dr. ********'s clinic to personally deliver the invites. Ate Letty (secretary) told them that she already gave Php 10,000.00 for CVOR-RR. Maybe CVOR just forgot that its for CVOR and CVRR. For heaven's sake they just forgot. And so I thought, are they really like that?Because I think they're good people with respectable conscience. But they're like telling everyone that they already have Php 30,000.00 in their fund and still going to collect money from their staff. And so its not just 30K.
I can't go talk to them about that, i just can't, because I don't know if I can say it nicely. Honestly, I know I have a bad temper and so I don't want to make any effort to get what's just for us. I might make a scene, I don't want friction. I have an agressive personality and a peaceful working relationship is what I need. If only they were fair enough to share with us, but maybe they just thought the money is for them alone (that I'm not sure).
However I still think there's miscommunication. They're not mean people. I know the OR is full of good people fair enough to share what is due for everyone.
Tapos nagka issue pa kami ni kuya mike regarding sa fund from Division of Nursing. And so I ran out of energy and motivation because no matter what I do, I cannot please and satisfy them all.
We can't come up with an idea suited for everyone. Or is it just because everybody's tooooooo stubborn and maramot to give up their personal preferences for camaraderie's sake??
Bahala na nga lang, lalong nagiging complicated habang tumatagal, at habang tumatagal lalo din akong nawawalan ng gana sa lahat ng suggestion.

The new Definition of Sentinel Event as of November 6, 2011

Old definition of Sentinel event:
A term for a ‘headliner’ event that may cause an unexpected or unanticipated outcome, death    or serious physical or psychological injury, or the risk thereof
Examples:
a. Suicide while a patient is under 24/7 surveillance;
b. unexpected death of a full-term infant
c. infant abduction or discharge to the wrong family
d. rape
e. haemolytic transfusion reaction due to mismatched blood
f. surgery on the wrong patient or wrong body part

The new definition of Sentinel Event! ( I am just being sarcastic if you still don't have any idea until now.)
a. Sentinel event is when a Licensed Nurse endorses the patient to a technician of any field without any irreversible and untoward effects on the patient. It also happens when a nurse fails to accomplish his/her Intake/Output monitoring, Nurses notes, transfer of patients to ancillary units for a diagnostic procedure to avoid any probability of a re-op or loss of limb especially during stat cases when time is very crucial without any doctors order (even if the doctor on duty verbalized that he /she will write the order when all situation are okay.)

Happy bday to my sweetest Mom and my brother (my #1 Fan!)

I want to make this day a very memorable birthday to my Mother. Saying thank you  is not enough for all the hardships that you had and still face for me, and for all of us,your family. Now I truly understand how difficult it is to become a mother now that i have my own daughter to raise. You will always be my idol! I love you very much Nay.:-)

To my brother, may you grow up to be a good person. You're my youngest and  the only brother i have. I love you very much and since the day you were born I have big dreams for you. Noy, I will always be at your side to help you reach your dreams and will always be there to guide you.

Pedring

I left the house very early, because i sensed that it would take me time waiting for a PUJ going to SLMC. I wore sleepers, my "lumang" shirt, and rolled my pants just bellow my popliteal. I placed my bag inside a plastic because I dont want it wet. Even my shoes had a special packaging made by my mom so it wont get wet. I remember her say to me "Sayang lang ang pagdala mo ng sapatos mo kung mababasa lang". Tama nga naman. I agree with my her.
I brought with me my "mumurahing" umbrella. Oh my! Sayang lang! I didnt have the chance of using it because the winds were so strong and it will just break my umbrella,it would be so embarassing to me seeing it break in front of so many people. Hay, Am I really this poor? Im unable to buy a heavy duty umbrella for my safety. I was a pitiful sight while walking the street going to the kawawang puno ng sampaloc  to wait for a traysekel to pass by.
I saw roofs flying out of nowhere. Funny sight, to me. Trees were lying on the ground, even the posts of Meralco. Most of the things in the road were in chaos. It was a fast ride from NGI to Cubao, because there was not enough motorist on the road. Maybe some were busy fixing their roof or wall damaged by Pedring.
I remember again, two staff from the PM shift was not able to go to duty because, 1. Number 4, lives in Morong, Rizal and its difficult for her to travel, probinsya na yun eh., 2. Number 2, was fixing his house or his roof (Im really not sure what). Oh my! That leaves us, I and Diane, to extend and transout all our patients. Gulay talaga.
Due to Tropical Storm Pedring, I was bedside today. We had 2 cases, Sternal Rewiring and Vein stripping. After such a long time I did everything like I did 2-3 years ago. Hayzz..it was so stressing. CCU called to ask wether the Blood extraction was done. I said "Yes.". I didnt even understand why I said yes, when actually no blood extraction was done. Oh shit! I was in doubt if there was..Hahaha..
I remember reading the Post-op orders for like, four times and I dont really remember reading an order about extration of blood. Man, Im in deep trouble. I wonder why Dr. (?) ordered for relaying of blood results when he didnt order for one.
Just because of one tropical storm, my head hurt, feels like my world is turning around until now. I had dinner naman. Hehe..whats worst, Diane is waiting for me (as in now ha) to go home, sabay kasi kami, she thinks Im making a report, what she doesnt know is that Im writing this so I can post this right away. Hehe..See you tomorrow!!

To infinity and beyond..

I just watched Eat Bulaga. The favorite noon time show of my mother and my friend Ryan Aliwalas. While watching their Pinoy Henyo segment/game, there was this pair who was supposed to guess the country "Vietnam" through asking and confirming questions. At some point, they were having this conversation...

                  Guy:   Sa Europe ba ito?
                  Girl:    Hindi.
                  Guy:   Southeast Asia ba ito?
                  Girl:    Hindi.
                  Guy:   Middle east?
                  Girl:   Oo!  Oo!
Guy:  Saudi?   Dubai?  Abu Dhabi? (etc..etc..etc..)
(hanggang sa naubos ang oras nila...)
                  Girl:  Hindi! Hindi!
(malamang hindi nya masasagot yun kasi sabi mo middle east eh)

I do not want to generalize but I simply cannot believe that Filipinos are poor in geography, when in fact our country is an archipelago composed of 7,107 islands, which makes us grow in an environment where knowing the physical arrangement of our islands is innate.

Vietnam is also from Southeast Asia just like the Philippines. In terms of weather and environmental set up it's just the same. So that's why I am really wondering where she learned that Vietnam is from Middle East???? Until the very end of the game she failed to realize what happened.

My cute baby Zoe..

Cuddles and tickles on toes
The sweet scent of powder, a kiss on the nose.
Teddy bears, rattles, powder, and pin,
Meals at midnight, giggles and grin.
Oh, how I love you Zoe..:-)

Familiar little faces.
They may look harmless but mind you they can be very manipulative especially the one suffering from Diabetes Mellitus ( you know its "Him" when you can smell nail polish all over the place, and has blurred vision) and his not-so-close-blood-relative(?) with Achondroplasia.

I watched this video for the Nth time

Now I have another band to listen to. I was amazed to see them play a cello in the "All apologies" video, so they must be very serious with their music. But I like this vid more.
They are not like any other band but they're like an opera turned into a rock band. They made classic musical works with a pinch of kaastigan and kaangasan.

Compromising policy

OMG! I'm torn apart. I dunno what to decide. I was trained to satisfy the needs of our doctors. But that is limited to what the policy states.

Our policy in St. Luke's Medical Center with regards to admission of patients, states that only patients from Cardiovascular Operating Room shall be admitted to the Cardiovascular Recovery Room. Ironically, we do not follow that due to the fact that we cannot refuse customers, and that includes the "freakin" doctors.

Its just a case of PDA stenting done in the cathlab. Its less invasive compared to our usual Open heart surgeries. The operation is being done by inserting a catheter in the artery. In short "napaka simple". That is why I wonder why the hell they want to send the patient in our unit when it is actually against the policy.

I called the NRM to help me solve the problem. I admit I cannot solve this alone. I told them the situation, but still in the end, Im in this on my own. Hay..why did they ever invented that worthless department anyway when it wont help solve the problems.

Just like what happened with my staff. Same hybrid procedure. Something happened, because my staff is not trained to handle a pediatric patient. She withdrew blood from the femoral vein which resulted to the clotting of the blood at the tip of the catheter. What made it worse is that all the inotropes were flowing at the venous catheter. Because of   what happened, the patient became hypotensive and bradycardic. The team were stressed out to stabilise the vitals of the baby. Eventually, the baby okay.

And so now...its happening again. They want to admit a baby in CVRR.

Hay nko..after waiting for the baby for 6 hours..They changed their minds. They want to transfer the baby directly to NICU. Buti naman at nkapag.isip sila.
